Performance Marketeer

Douwe Egberts • Voltijd • Utrecht, Nederland • 9u

Job Description

Within the Media & Digital team Northern Europe, you will help accelerate our digital and data-driven marketing across both B2B and Retail (DTC/ecommerce) in the Netherlands.

As a Performance Marketeer, you play a key role in strengthening our online visibility, discoverability and relevance across the full funnel. Your goal is to drive sustainable growth for both B2B solutions (such as coffee machines and services) and our strong retail and ecommerce brands - from building demand and consideration to optimising conversion and media efficiency.

You move effortlessly between dashboards, campaigns, creative concepts and channel strategies, always with a clear focus on performance, growth and return on investment.

You report to the Media Manager NL and work closely with Marketing, Ecommerce, Sales, CRM, agencies and the Global Media & Digital team.

What will you do?

Performance Strategy

  • Develop and execute an integrated full-funnel performance marketing strategy for B2B and our well-known coffee and tea brands (including L'OR).
  • Translate business objectives into scalable media strategies across SEA, Paid Social, Display, Programmatic, Affiliates and SEO.
  • Co-create annual plans and performance roadmaps together with marketing and commercial teams.

B2B Lead & Demand Generation

  • End-to-end responsibility for performance-driven B2B campaigns for coffee machines, services and contract models.
  • Build and optimise audiences, funnels and lead quality.
  • Actively contribute to the strategic shift from lead generation to demand generation, focusing on relevant target audiences, buying intent, content and full-funnel performance rather than volume alone.
  • Collaborate closely with Sales, Ecommerce and CRM to maximise conversion throughout the funnel (MQL → SQL).

DTC Performance Management (Brand Websites & L'OR Webshop)

  • Daily optimisation and steering of performance campaigns for our consumer brands and ecommerce activities.
  • Improve ROAS, CPA, traffic quality and conversion rates.
  • Execute A/B testing, creative testing and conversion optimisation of landing pages.

Budget & Performance Ownership

  • Own performance budget allocation and efficiency.
  • Act as a strategic advisor to marketing leads, media managers and the Northern Europe Management Team.
  • Develop dashboards, reporting and actionable performance insights.

Innovation & Project Leadership (AI-driven)

  • Initiate and lead performance-related innovation projects with a strong focus on AI-driven optimisation, such as AI targeting, bidding, personalisation, creative testing and predictive insights.
  • Actively monitor and translate AI developments and digital trends in media, data and marketing into concrete improvements in performance and efficiency.

Agency & Stakeholder Management

  • Daily management of performance media and creative agencies.
  • Share knowledge and best practices within the Northern Europe marketing organisation to increase digital savviness.
  • Work closely with Global Media & Digital teams to share learnings and scale successful initiatives.

Company Information

Company Name: Douwe Egberts

Company Website: https://www.douwe-egberts.com

Company Address: N/A

Douwe Egberts is a historic and internationally recognized coffee brand originating in the Netherlands, with roots that trace back to the mid-18th century. Founded in 1753 in the town of Joure by Egbert Douwes, the brand established itself over centuries as one of the Netherlands' most prominent purveyors of roasted coffee and related products. Douwe Egberts' business has traditionally centered on sourcing, roasting, blending and packaging coffee for retail consumers, foodservice and out-of-home channels, and on offering related beverage products such as tea and single-serve formats. Company overview and history: Douwe Egberts began as a small grocer's business in the Frisian town of Joure and expanded steadily through the 19th and 20th centuries into a nationally and then internationally distributed coffee brand. The name "Douwe Egberts" derives from the founder's name and has been retained as the consumer-facing brand for a broad portfolio of coffee and hot beverage products. Over time the brand became part of larger corporate structures that consolidated coffee businesses; in contemporary corporate organization Douwe Egberts is a prominent brand within the global coffee group JDE Peet's, which markets and distributes multiple coffee and tea brands worldwide. The brand’s long history and deep presence in the Dutch and European market have made it a culturally significant coffee label in its home market and have supported expansion into other regions. Core business activities: Douwe Egberts’ principal activities encompass the procurement of green coffee beans, industrial-scale roasting and blending, development of consumer coffee products, packaging and distribution into retail and foodservice channels, and the development of single-serve systems and compatible consumables. The brand supports both business-to-consumer (packaged ground coffee, whole beans, instant coffee, single-serve pads and pods) and business-to-business operations (bulk supplies and specialized solutions for restaurants, cafés and institutional customers). Douwe Egberts also collaborates with manufacturing partners to supply coffee machines and single-serve systems compatible with its coffee formats. Main products and services: Douwe Egberts’ product portfolio covers a wide range of coffee formats designed for multiple consumption occasions. Key categories include roasted and ground coffee for filter and moka preparations, whole-bean coffee for grinding at home, instant coffee, and single-serve formats. The brand is especially known for single-serve coffee pad systems (notably the Senseo system, developed in collaboration with Philips), which popularized pad-based single-cup brewing in several European markets. Douwe Egberts produces a spectrum of roast profiles—from mild and medium roasts to darker espresso-style blends—targeted both at mainstream retail shoppers and at specialty segments seeking specific flavor profiles. In addition to consumer packaged goods, Douwe Egberts provides coffee solutions for out-of-home consumption, supplying bulk and machine-served coffee to offices, foodservice operators and hospitality venues. Complementary products and services have included coffee-related accessories and partnerships that integrate Douwe Egberts coffee into coffee machines and automated brewing systems used in professional settings. Market position and distribution: Historically strongest in the Netherlands and other parts of Western Europe, Douwe Egberts has been distributed through supermarkets, specialty retailers, convenience stores and online channels, as well as through corporate and institutional contracts. The brand’s distribution strategies combine traditional retail placement with partnerships for single-serve systems, licensing arrangements and collaborations that enable broad reach across consumer and business segments. As part of a larger global coffee company, Douwe Egberts benefits from shared procurement, manufacturing and distribution capabilities that extend the brand’s market access beyond its Dutch origins. Innovation and notable initiatives: Douwe Egberts has participated in product and format innovation in the coffee sector. Its collaboration with Philips to introduce the Senseo single-serve coffee pad system was a prominent example of consumer-oriented product innovation, influencing single-serve coffee consumption patterns in Europe. The brand has also engaged in developments around packaging, roast consistency and product segmentation to address evolving consumer preferences, such as convenience-focused single-serve formats and a range of roast intensities. Over time, Douwe Egberts and its corporate parents have also publicized sustainability and sourcing initiatives, reflecting industry-wide attention to responsible sourcing of coffee beans and supply-chain transparency; these initiatives typically focus on sourcing practices, farmer support programs and certification schemes, consistent with efforts described by major coffee companies and their brands. Organizational context: While Douwe Egberts functions as a distinct consumer brand with its own heritage and product lines, it operates within the structure of larger corporate ownership that manages multiple coffee and tea brands globally. This corporate context supplies centralized capabilities—such as global sourcing, research and development, manufacturing infrastructure and international distribution—that support Douwe Egberts’ product availability and market activities. The brand’s strategy is aligned with maintaining product consistency, broad retail availability, and engagement with consumer trends in convenience and single-serve consumption. Overall, Douwe Egberts is best understood as a long-established coffee brand with a broad product lineup spanning traditional roasted coffee and modern single-serve formats, active across retail and out-of-home channels, and integrated into the operations of a global coffee company. Its reputation is anchored in a deep historical origin, widespread consumer recognition in the Netherlands and Europe, and a product portfolio designed to serve both home consumers and commercial customers.
