Company Information

Company Name: Stamps

Company Website: https://www.stamps.com

Company Address: N/A

Stamps (operating as Stamps.com) is an established provider of internet-based postage and shipping solutions that enable businesses and individual users to print postage and shipping labels directly from computers and other internet-connected devices. The company’s core offering centers on replacing traditional postal meters and in-person postage purchases with a software-driven system that interfaces with the United States Postal Service (USPS) services. Stamps’ platform is designed to streamline mailing and parcel workflows for small and medium-sized businesses, high-volume shippers, online sellers, and home users by integrating postage purchase, label printing, rate calculation, batch processing and shipment tracking into a single service. Company overview and core activities: Stamps provides a cloud-first service (with optional desktop components and companion mobile access) that authorizes and prints official USPS postage for letters, flats, and parcels. The product suite supports printing standard postage indicia, postage-paid envelopes, and full shipping labels suitable for USPS acceptance. The company’s software automates rate selection and comparison for USPS services, enables discounted commercial postage rates where applicable, and supports batch label generation to reduce manual labor for repetitive shipping tasks. Typical users connect their online marketplaces or order systems to Stamps to import orders, validate and standardize addresses, produce labels in bulk, and generate manifests or postage summaries for reconciliation. The platform also records tracking numbers and basic shipment metadata for post-shipment visibility. Main products and services: Stamps’ primary service is its postage- and shipping-label printing platform, offered through a web application and supporting software tools. Key features and services commonly available to customers include: printing USPS-approved postage and shipping labels from a standard printer or dedicated label printer; automated address verification and correction services to improve delivery success; bulk batch label printing and multi-package shipment processing; discounted postage pricing options available through commercial pricing programs; order importing and direct integrations with major e-commerce marketplaces and shopping carts to streamline fulfillment; shipment tracking lookup and basic reporting for shipped items; and tools for returns management. In addition to end-user applications, Stamps historically has provided integration points (APIs and software development tools) so third-party systems, shipping platforms, and merchant back-office software can automate postage purchase and label generation as part of broader order-fulfillment flows. Technology and integrations: The company’s product is built around secure internet connectivity to postal service systems and merchant platforms. Stamps supports integrations that let sellers import orders directly from common e-commerce channels and marketplaces to avoid manual entry. These integrations reduce fulfillment time and errors by automating the translation of an order into a correctly formatted shipping label and by applying the most appropriate USPS service and rate. The platform typically offers options for printing on standard paper or adhesive label stock and supports common printer drivers and label formats used in small- to medium-scale fulfillment operations. For developers and enterprise customers, Stamps provides programmatic interfaces so custom systems can request postage purchases and labels, query rates, and retrieve tracking information. Target customers and use cases: Stamps addresses a wide range of mailing and shipping needs. Home users and small businesses use the service to print postage for letters and parcels without needing a physical postage meter or trips to a post office. Online merchants and marketplace sellers use Stamps to convert orders into printed shipping labels with integrated tracking and to leverage commercial postage pricing for cost savings. Organizations that regularly send invoices, return labels, promotional mailings, or subscription packages use bulk-printing and batch-postage features to reduce administrative time and postage handling complexity. The platform’s value is strongest for operations that seek to centralize fulfillment and reporting while minimizing manual handling of postage purchases. Commercial model and customer support: The company typically operates on a subscription or transactional model, where customers pay a periodic service fee and purchase postage funds through the platform. Support and onboarding services are offered to help customers configure printers, connect marketplace integrations, and understand rate options and postal procedures. Documentation, help centers, and customer service resources guide users in configuring label formats, choosing USPS service levels, and troubleshooting common printing or processing issues. Regulatory and postal compliance: Stamps’ systems are designed to comply with postal regulations and technical requirements for postage indicia and shipping labels. By connecting to authorized postal systems and following USPS standards for label content and barcode formatting, Stamps helps ensure that printed postage and labels meet carrier acceptance criteria, which reduces the risk of rejected shipments and delivery delays. Summary: In sum, Stamps operates a technology-driven postage and shipping platform that transforms how individuals and businesses purchase and print USPS postage and manage parcel shipments. Its offerings consolidate postage payment, label generation, order import, and basic shipment tracking into a single set of services that cater to e-commerce sellers, small businesses, and frequent mailers seeking efficiency, integration, and time savings compared with traditional postage metering or in-person postal transactions. The company’s products emphasize automation, marketplace connectivity, bulk-processing capabilities, and compliance with postal formatting and acceptance rules.
