Company Information

Company Name: Amazon (Shanghai) International Trading Company Limited - D64

Company Website: https://www.aboutamazon.com

Company Address: CHN, Shanghai

Amazon (Shanghai) International Trading Company Limited is a corporate legal entity associated with the global Amazon group and is understood to operate within Amazon’s network of China-based business entities that support Amazon’s international retail and cross-border e-commerce activities. As a China-registered trading company bearing the Amazon trade name, this entity’s role is primarily oriented toward commercial and logistical functions that enable Amazon’s marketplace, retail sourcing, cross-border procurement and seller services to operate in and through the Greater China region. The company is part of a broader set of Amazon legal entities established to manage localized regulatory, commercial, tax and operational requirements while enabling Amazon’s global technology-driven commerce platform to serve customers, brands and third-party sellers across international borders. Core business activities for a company of this type typically include administration and facilitation of international trade transactions (import/export), commercial procurement and supplier contracting, coordination of marketplace and cross-border retail operations, support for third‑party seller onboarding and management, and oversight of compliance processes for customs, import/export documentation and local regulatory issues. In practice, those activities can mean acting as an onshore contracting party for international purchases and sales, enabling Chinese sellers and manufacturers to export goods to Amazon’s global marketplaces, and coordinating inbound sourcing for products sold to customers in China and abroad. The entity also commonly supports operational functions such as payment reconciliation with international partners, commercial invoicing, local customer service coordination, and management of returns and after-sales logistics in accordance with regional rules. From a services and product standpoint, the company’s offerings are generally service-oriented rather than product-manufacturing. Typical service areas include: facilitation of cross-border e-commerce transactions; commercial trade services (arranging and documenting import/export flows); marketplace and seller services (helping manufacturers and retailers list, price and fulfill goods for Amazon marketplaces worldwide); logistics coordination and support for fulfillment operations (including cooperation with Fulfillment by Amazon programs and third-party logistics providers for cross-border shipments); and business-to-business trading activities to support Amazon’s retail assortments. The entity may also collaborate with Amazon’s broader technology platforms—such as seller-facing software, payments and advertising tools—by providing local operational, contractual and compliance support that allows those global services to be used effectively by customers and sellers in the region. Although this entity carries the Amazon name and supports commerce functions, it is important to distinguish between the legal trading company and Amazon’s broader technology and cloud businesses. Amazon (Shanghai) International Trading Company Limited is focused on the commercial, trading and operational aspects required to enable Amazon’s retail and marketplace business in relation to China-based sellers and cross-border trade pathways. Amazon’s technology offerings—such as Amazon Web Services (AWS), Amazon Advertising, and other global platform services—are managed and provided by separate business units and legal entities within the Amazon corporate structure. In terms of industry positioning, the company operates at the intersection of e-commerce, international trade and logistics, leveraging Amazon’s platform model and global supply-chain partnerships. Its activities contribute to enabling global merchants to reach international marketplaces, to expand the assortment available to Amazon customers via cross-border supply chains, and to ensure that trade flows comply with local and international regulatory frameworks. Operationally, the entity typically works closely with logistics providers, customs brokers, payment processors, seller support teams, and Amazon’s global marketplace operations to deliver end-to-end cross-border commerce solutions. For customers and business partners, the value proposition of this type of Amazon trading entity is the ability to use Amazon’s global marketplace infrastructure while relying on a locally registered organization for contracting, regulatory compliance and trade administration. For Chinese manufacturers and exporters, the company serves as a bridge to Amazon’s international buyer base and as a facilitator of processes needed to sell internationally through Amazon channels. For Amazon’s global retail operations, it provides localized support that helps Amazon maintain consistent service levels, adhere to local legal and tax obligations, and manage complex cross-border flows. As with other country-level legal entities in Amazon’s corporate network, publicly available details about the precise corporate structure, ownership percentages, and specific internal functions of Amazon (Shanghai) International Trading Company Limited are typically documented in regional business registries and in Amazon’s corporate filings, rather than in standalone marketing literature. Because it is one of multiple Amazon-branded entities used to manage regional operations, its scope and exact responsibilities are oriented around trade, commercial facilitation and operational support rather than product development or cloud infrastructure development, which remain the domain of distinct Amazon businesses.
