Amazon Canada Fulfillment Services, ULC is a legal operating entity within the Amazon group that provides warehousing, order-fulfillment, and logistics services to support Amazon’s retail operations and third-party sellers in Canada. Functioning as the operational arm that manages physical inventory and outbound shipments for the Amazon.ca marketplace and for sellers who use Fulfillment by Amazon (FBA), the entity is responsible for the intake, storage, inventory management, picking, packing, shipping, returns processing, and related customer-service operations that enable online order delivery across Canadian domestic markets and to certain international destinations. The company’s activities are centered on high-volume distribution center operations that combine material-handling systems, warehouse management software, automated equipment, and logistics coordination to move millions of units through a distributed network of facilities. Core business activities include receiving inbound product shipments from vendors and marketplace sellers; storing and organizing inventory in secure, trackable locations; processing customer orders through systems that route picking and packing instructions; preparing outbound shipments with appropriate packaging and documentation; and arranging handoff to last-mile carriers, Amazon’s own delivery network (Amazon Logistics) and partner carriers for final delivery. In addition to outbound order processing, the entity operates returns processing and refurbishment workflows for eligible products, inventory reconciliation and reporting services, and quality-control procedures to maintain product condition and traceability. These functions enable marketplace sellers to outsource logistics and fulfillment complexity, using the company’s facilities and operational capabilities to reach Amazon customers across Canada. The services offered on site and through related programs are designed to support multiple customer segments: Amazon retail merchandising (inventory held for Amazon’s own retail sales), third-party marketplace sellers who enroll in Fulfillment by Amazon (FBA) to have their inventory stored and shipped by Amazon, and business customers that require bulk or recurring supply distribution. For sellers using FBA, the company provides label and packaging compliance guidance, inventory receiving and inspection, storage until sale, order fulfillment (including single-unit and multi-item orders), and customer-service support tied to shipped orders. The entity’s fulfillment centers also support Amazon programs such as Prime by enabling fast-shipping and expedited delivery options, which rely on optimized fulfillment flows and regional inventory placement strategies to meet delivery promises. Operations place a strong emphasis on process efficiency, safety, and the use of technology to increase throughput. Facilities typically integrate warehouse management systems, barcode scanning, conveyor and sortation systems, and varying degrees of automation to improve picking accuracy and speed. Where deployed, automated guided vehicles, robotic picking aids, and sophisticated software routing are used to increase density and reduce manual travel time. Inventory is tracked in real time through electronic systems that feed order-management platforms, allowing dynamic assignment of orders to specific picking zones or waves. Workforce management practices, including shift planning and training, are used to meet seasonal demand spikes (for example, around major retail holidays) and to sustain continuous operations across multiple shifts. Beyond the core physical handling of goods, the company contributes to broader logistics and supply-chain services that include cross-docking for rapid throughput of high-turnover items, multi-channel fulfillment for sellers who sell on channels other than Amazon, and collaboration with transportation partners to optimize outbound shipping lanes. The facilities operate within Amazon’s overall network strategy, which focuses on placement of inventory to balance cost, delivery speed, and capacity. This networked approach supports promotional events, inventory rebalancing between facilities, and temporary capacity changes when required by changing consumer demand patterns. The entity also implements compliance, safety and environmental controls consistent with large-scale industrial operations. This typically encompasses workplace safety programs, controlled storage of certain product categories, packaging waste management and recycling programs, and adherence to customs and cross-border shipping regulations for inventory that moves internationally. Customer-facing activities include tracking and notification systems that provide order status to buyers, and internal analytics and reporting for sellers that show inventory levels, sales performance and fulfillment metrics. For business clients, the company provides inventory and returns reporting and tools that integrate with seller accounts and Amazon’s seller central ecosystem. While specific facility design and technology deployments vary by site, the company’s role remains focused on providing end-to-end fulfillment services that enable efficient e-commerce order flow from receipt of inventory to delivery to the end customer. As part of Amazon’s larger logistics and commerce infrastructure in Canada, Amazon Canada Fulfillment Services, ULC plays a central operational role in enabling the marketplace, retail offerings, and seller services available to Canadian consumers and businesses.
