AWS Industries is looking to hire a Solutions Architect focus on retail and consumer goods customers.

AWS Solutions Architects are part of a group of architects supporting strategic and major industry-leading companies, working alongside our customers as trust advisors to develop and implement technology-driven solutions for industry-specific business challenges. Customer business requirements vary greatly, with industry-specific business circumstances, unique data, and workloads.

In the retail and consumer goods industry particularly, beyond simply selling products and services, businesses are transforming through advanced stores, enhanced customer touchpoints including e-Commerce sites and mobile applications, value chain optimization through demand forecasting, logistics reform, digital marketing and call center advancement - utilizing not only cloud but also leading technologies like Agentic AI.

As a Solutions Architect focusing on the retail and consumer goods industry, let's work together with customers to envision new businesses, drive the consideration of enabling technologies, and actively challenge unprecedented initiatives.


Key job responsibilities
• Promote AWS value and provide architectural/technical support to major retail and consumer goods companies.
• Build and own relationships with your customers’ senior leaders.
• Proactively identify new technical opportunities to positively impact customer’s business objectives
• Design customer solutions, applying judgement and experience in advising customers on short- and long-term implications of trade-offs (e.g., extensibility, flexibility, scalability, maintainability)
• Define long-term milestones for customers' existing and new business success.
• Disseminate AWS technical information internally and externally through seminars, hands-on sessions, and workshops.
• Transform delivered solutions into reference designs or reusable artifacts for other Solutions Architects to leverage with their customers
• Own the root cause resolution of complex problems, be it for a customer or an internal problem
• Contribute to AWS platform improvements working with service development teams based on customer feedback.
• Be the thought leader within AWS, working with regional and global technical teams and communities to capture industry solutions and sharing it across geographies to drive impact through reusable asset creation and maintenance.


A day in the life
We build long-term relationship with our customer stakeholders as their trusted technical advisor with guidance on addressing their business challenges.
Working closely with sales teams, we analyze and propose solutions for challenges ranging from IT department operations to new business initiatives and management issues. Collaborating with global tech community, we progress through implementation stages via architecture development, demos, prototyping with AWS and partner solutions. The work style is flexible, including both on-site whiteboarding and online meetings. This is a dynamic workplace where countless communication networks emerge daily, with opportunities to both receive and provide expertise support to wider technical community.

Basic Qualifications

- Speak, write, and read fluently in Japanese
- Business level English
- 10+ years of technical specialist, design and architecture experience
- 4+ years of external or internal customer facing, complex and large scale project management experience
- 3+ years of cloud based solution (AWS or equivalent), system, network and operating system experience
- Experience working with or evaluating AI systems
- 4+ years of continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) experience

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience working with end user or developer communities
- Experience working with emerging technologies
- Experience migrating or transforming legacy customer solutions to the cloud
- Experience utilizing AWS cloud solutions in a DevOps environment
- Experience in customer-facing business presentations covering business and technical aspects or equivalent
