Job Description

Amazon Web Services has an opening for a Technical Writer who thrives in a dynamic, fast-paced environment and has a content and technical writing background. As a Technical Writer, you will be responsible for creating and maintaining customer-focused content for technical and non-technical audiences.
You will work with other Technical Writers, AWS builders, and subject matter experts to create and revise public facing documentation for various user guides across multiple AWS services. You will play a role in the development of a successful and effective global AWS Support team, including the development and management of content strategy, reviewing key metrics to ensure the availability of high quality content, and collaborating with AWS builders to review and revise content.

Key job responsibilities
The primary responsibilities for a Technical Writer include:
- Collaborate with AWS service teams to optimize and maintain public-facing user guides, developer guides, onboarding guides, and API documentation while maintaining a high bar for quality.
- Triage feedback on public-facing guides and take action to prioritize feedback.
- Work directly with development teams and AWS Support stakeholders to produce world-class content.
- Create and maintain integrated help content on the AWS service consoles and review/revise public-facing error messages.
- Work collaboratively with internal and external global stakeholders to conceptualize and develop content that strengthens the AWS brand.
- Create, maintain, and edit content that is used by a wide audience with varying skill levels.
- Manage all aspects of the documentation process—planning, testing, maintaining, and delivery.
- Use metrics to identify underperforming content and present/implement a plan for improvement.
- Use writing expertise and extraordinary attention to detail to evaluate, uphold, implement, and evangelize content standards that reflect the voice of AWS.
-Demonstrate AI fluency in handling content development and publication.

You will work with AWS service teams to create content that is clear and actionable, while meeting or exceeding the high standards for AWS documentation. You will monitor internal and external feedback to drive insights into improving content performance and strategy, and provide feedback to the service teams for new features, error messaging, console strings, and user guide content to improve CX with AWS services. Your work will empower millions of users to solve complex problems, and directly contribute to the success of AWS customers.

Basic Qualifications

- Experience using content publishing tools to write, format, manage and publish high-quality content
- Experience delivering content publication plans or managing multiple projects
- Experience executing content projects, prioritizing tasks, and meeting deadlines
- Experience working with Git or an equivalent distributed version control system
- 5+ years of technical writing role experience
- 5+ years of experience delivering content publication plans or managing multiple projects.
- 3+ years of experience using XML for web content.
- 3+ years of experience using Git for version control

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience managing content projects of varying complexity
- Experience in project management
- Experience writing high-quality technical content for technical audiences (e.g., engineers, developers, scientists)
- Experience writing API reference documentation

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
