Job Description

Amazon Web Services (AWS) is looking for a Senior Solutions Architect to join our Commercial Sector Enterprise team in the UAE. You will work directly with customers in Financial Services, Retail, Travel & Hospitality, and Media — organizations navigating complex digital transformations where the technology strategy is not yet defined and the right path forward requires both technical depth and business judgment.

This is a builder role. You will go into customer environments, understand their hardest problems, and design solutions that work — from whiteboard architecture through proof of concept to production. You will bring deep expertise across cloud infrastructure, modern application development, data and analytics, and increasingly, generative AI and machine learning. You will earn trust by shipping things that matter, not by presenting slides.

You will be part of a collaborative, supportive team that values curiosity, ownership, and impact. We learn from each other, coach and develop each other, and build an environment where every voice is heard.

Key job responsibilities
As a Senior Solutions Architect, you will own the technical relationship with customers end-to-end. This means:

- Partnering with enterprise customers to understand their business objectives, assess their current technology landscape, and architect cloud solutions that deliver real outcomes — in cost optimization, operational efficiency, security, reliability, and innovation.

- Building hands-on: prototypes, proofs of concept, reference architectures, and production-ready designs. You lead by doing, not just advising.

- Helping customers adopt and build with generative AI and machine learning — identifying high-value use cases, designing architectures for foundation models and intelligent applications, and guiding teams from experimentation to production.

- Acting as the customer's technical advocate inside AWS — translating field insights into clear, prioritized feedback that shapes the roadmap for AWS services and features.

- Creating and sharing technical content that scales your impact: workshops, blog posts, code samples, reference architectures, and public talks at meetups, user groups, and conferences.

- Shaping the future of our team by helping hire, coach, and mentor fellow Solutions Architects. You make the team stronger because of your presence, but the team does not depend on your presence to succeed.

A day in the life
No two days look the same. You might spend the morning whiteboarding a multi-account landing zone architecture with a financial services customer's platform team, then pivot to a hands-on working session helping a retail customer's developers integrate a foundation model into their recommendation engine. In the afternoon you might review a colleague's architecture proposal, draft a blog post on a pattern you discovered in the field, or hop on a call with an AWS service team to advocate for a feature your customer needs. You balance depth with breadth, strategic thinking with hands-on execution, and customer urgency with long-term technical direction.

Amazon Web Services EMEA Dubai FZ Branch is the regional Dubai Free Zone presence of Amazon Web Services (AWS), the global provider of on-demand cloud computing platforms and APIs. As a regional branch serving customers in the United Arab Emirates and the broader Middle East and EMEA markets, the Dubai FZ Branch operates as an AWS local organizational presence to support sales, customer engagement, partner relationships, localized technical support, compliance needs, and go-to-market activities across the region. The branch enables local enterprises, public sector organizations, startups, and system integrators to consume and deploy AWS cloud services while benefiting from regional engagement, localized commercial terms, and coordination with AWS’s global infrastructure and service teams. Core business activities of the Dubai branch mirror AWS’s global business model: provisioning and supporting access to a broad portfolio of cloud services; helping customers migrate applications and workloads to AWS; delivering advisory, professional services, training and certification; building partner ecosystem relationships through the AWS Partner Network (APN); and coordinating local compliance, security, and data residency requirements with AWS’s global teams. The branch focuses on customer-facing activities such as account management, solution architecture support, technical enablement, and industry-focused engagements (for example, financial services, healthcare, government, education, and telecommunications) to accelerate cloud adoption across the UAE and neighboring markets. The main products and services supported and promoted through the Dubai FZ Branch are AWS’s comprehensive cloud offerings, covering core cloud infrastructure and a wide set of higher-level managed services. Key categories include compute (Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud – EC2; AWS Lambda serverless compute), storage and content delivery (Amazon Simple Storage Service – S3; Amazon Elastic Block Store – EBS; Amazon CloudFront), databases and analytics (Amazon Relational Database Service – RDS; Amazon DynamoDB; Amazon Redshift), container and orchestration services (Amazon Elastic Kubernetes Service – EKS; Amazon Elastic Container Service – ECS), and networking and security services (Amazon Virtual Private Cloud – VPC; AWS Identity and Access Management – IAM; AWS WAF and AWS Shield). The branch also supports advanced service areas such as artificial intelligence and machine learning (Amazon SageMaker and related AI/ML services), Internet of Things (AWS IoT), developer and operational tooling (AWS CloudFormation, AWS CodePipeline), monitoring and observability (Amazon CloudWatch, AWS X-Ray), migration and hybrid solutions (AWS Migration Hub, AWS Outposts), and marketplace and partner-delivered solutions through the AWS Marketplace. Beyond product availability, the Dubai FZ Branch plays a role in facilitating local access to AWS professional services, training and certification programs, and programs designed to accelerate startups and local innovation (for example, AWS Activate and AWS Training & Certification offerings). The branch coordinates with AWS’s global Professional Services and Solutions Architecture teams to deliver well-architected reviews, migration planning, performance optimization, and cost-management guidance tailored to local customer and regulatory contexts. It also supports the local APN ecosystem, enabling systems integrators, managed service providers, and independent software vendors to collaborate with AWS on joint customer engagements. From a compliance and governance perspective, the Dubai branch interfaces with local regulatory and government stakeholders to help customers meet data residency and security obligations by leveraging AWS’s global cloud infrastructure, local Regions, and edge locations. AWS maintains a set of cloud security, compliance and privacy certifications globally; the Dubai branch serves as a regional point of contact for customers seeking information about how those controls and compliance programs apply to deployments serving UAE and regional workloads. The branch also assists customers with contractual, procurement and billing needs that reflect local commercial and legal requirements. Operationally, the Dubai FZ Branch does not itself manufacture hardware or run isolated cloud infrastructure; instead, it represents AWS’s commercial and customer-support presence in Dubai while leveraging AWS’s globally distributed network of Regions, Availability Zones, and edge locations. AWS’s global infrastructure delivers the underlying compute, storage and networking services, and the Dubai branch focuses on making those services accessible and relevant to local organizations through localized support, industry-specific solutions, and partner-led implementation projects. Customer segments served by the branch include large enterprises (telecoms, banks, utilities, retailers), government and public sector agencies, healthcare and life sciences organizations, small and medium-sized businesses, and startups. The branch supports digital transformation initiatives such as application modernization, data analytics and business intelligence, AI/ML adoption, secure hybrid-cloud deployments, and the development of cloud-native applications. It also supports education and skills development efforts through workshops, training events, and certification programs that aim to grow cloud skills in the local workforce. In summary, Amazon Web Services EMEA Dubai FZ Branch functions as AWS’s localized operational, sales, partner and customer-engagement entity in Dubai and the wider Middle East/EMEA region. Its purpose is to make AWS’s extensive suite of cloud products and professional services accessible to regional customers, to coordinate with local partners and regulators, and to accelerate cloud adoption across industries by providing localized support, commercial arrangements, and technical enablement while leveraging AWS’s global cloud infrastructure and managed services portfolio.
