AWS EMEA SARL (Finland Branch) is the Finland-registered branch of AWS EMEA SARL, the European legal entity used by Amazon Web Services (AWS) to deliver and contract cloud computing services across the Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) region. As a branch of a widely recognized cloud services provider, the Finland Branch acts as a local operating and contracting presence for customers, partners and public sector entities in Finland, enabling them to access the full portfolio of AWS cloud infrastructure, platform and managed services under the AWS brand. The branch exists to support regional commercial, contractual and compliance needs while leveraging the global AWS technology platform, global network of infrastructure regions and the broader Amazon organization. Company overview AWS EMEA SARL is the entity through which Amazon Web Services delivers cloud services to many customers in the EMEA region; the Finland Branch is the local branch of that entity established to provide a local presence in Finland. AWS itself is a major global provider of on-demand cloud computing platforms and APIs to individuals, companies and governments, and AWS EMEA SARL is the legally registered organization that handles EMEA customer relationships, invoicing and regulatory compliance where applicable. The Finland Branch provides localized customer engagement, support and administrative functions aligned with AWS global offerings, with the primary purpose of facilitating use of AWS’s technology stack by organizations operating in or from Finland. Core business activities The branch’s core activities align with AWS’s global business model and include: 1) enabling access to scalable cloud infrastructure (compute, storage and networking) and platform services; 2) offering managed data services such as relational and NoSQL databases, data warehousing and analytics; 3) supporting application development and deployment through container, serverless and devops tooling; 4) delivering machine learning, artificial intelligence and data science services; 5) providing security, identity and governance capabilities to help customers meet regulatory and compliance requirements; and 6) operating an ecosystem of partners, professional services, training and certification programs. In practice, the Finland Branch’s responsibilities include regional sales and customer support facilitation, contractual and billing relationships under AWS EMEA SARL, and coordination with AWS global teams for technical account management, professional services engagements and compliance certifications. Main products and services As part of AWS’s global service catalogue, customers engaging through the Finland Branch can procure the same core AWS products and services delivered worldwide. These include, but are not limited to: - Compute and scaling: Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2) for virtual servers, AWS Lambda for serverless compute, Amazon Elastic Kubernetes Service (EKS) and Amazon Elastic Container Service (ECS) for container orchestration. - Storage and content delivery: Amazon Simple Storage Service (S3) for object storage, Amazon Elastic Block Store (EBS) for block storage, Amazon FSx for file systems, and Amazon CloudFront for content delivery and edge caching. - Databases and analytics: Amazon Relational Database Service (RDS), Amazon Aurora, Amazon DynamoDB, Amazon Redshift for analytics, and a suite of analytics services (Glue, Athena, Kinesis). - Machine learning and AI: Amazon SageMaker for model building and deployment, prebuilt AI services for vision, speech, language and personalization. - Networking and connectivity: Amazon Virtual Private Cloud (VPC), Elastic Load Balancing, AWS Direct Connect and Transit Gateway for hybrid and multi-region connectivity. - Security, identity and compliance: AWS Identity and Access Management (IAM), AWS Key Management Service (KMS), AWS Security Hub, AWS Config and other tools for governance and regulatory controls. - Developer tools and management: AWS CloudFormation, AWS CloudWatch, AWS Systems Manager, AWS CodePipeline and related CI/CD and monitoring services. Commercial and ecosystem services Beyond technical offerings, the Finland Branch enables local access to AWS’s commercial programs such as enterprise support plans, AWS Professional Services engagements, the AWS Partner Network (APN) for consulting and technology partners, and the AWS Marketplace for third-party software. The branch helps Finnish customers integrate AWS services with local systems, engage certified partners, and access training and certification resources to build cloud skills internally. Compliance, data protection and regional presence AWS EMEA SARL and its branches operate within the legal and regulatory frameworks applicable to cloud services in the EMEA region. For EMEA customers, AWS publishes contractual terms, data processing addenda and compliance documentation (including ISO, SOC, PCI and other attestations) that define responsibilities for data protection and processing, and which are relevant to customers in Finland when they contract with AWS EMEA SARL (Finland Branch). The branch supports local contractual needs and liaises with customers on topics such as data residency, cross-border transfers, and regulatory requirements. Customer segments and use cases Customers served via the Finland Branch span startups, small and medium enterprises, large multinational corporations and public sector organizations. Common use cases include migrating enterprise applications to the cloud, implementing scalable web and mobile backends, running big data analytics and machine learning workloads, disaster recovery and backup solutions, and deploying modern containerized or serverless architectures to accelerate time-to-market. Positioning and partner ecosystem The Finland Branch forms part of AWS’s broader strategy to provide localized engagement while leveraging global infrastructure and innovation. It works closely with AWS’s local partner ecosystem—system integrators, managed service providers and independent software vendors—to deliver tailored solutions for Finnish customers, combining AWS cloud capabilities with domain expertise and local regulatory knowledge. Operational model and support Operationally, customers in Finland can expect access to AWS customer support plans, local sales and partner contacts, technical account management for enterprise customers, and global online documentation, training and certification. The Finland Branch focuses on ensuring that organizations can consume AWS’s full suite of cloud services with attention to regional commercial, legal and compliance considerations.
