Company Information

Company Name: Amazon EU SARL (UK Branch)

Company Website: https://www.amazon.co.uk

Company Address: 60 HOLBORN VIADUCT, EC1A 2FD LONDON

Amazon EU SARL (UK Branch) is the United Kingdom branch of Amazon EU S.à r.l., a European legal entity within the Amazon global corporate group. Amazon EU S.à r.l. is incorporated in Luxembourg and functions as one of Amazon’s principal European operating companies; the UK Branch represents that Luxembourg entity’s registered presence and operations in the United Kingdom. As part of the broader Amazon organization, the UK Branch participates in the group’s established activities in online retail, marketplace services for third-party sellers, customer-facing commerce operations, and related business support services that enable Amazon’s digital commerce and logistics footprint across the UK and European markets. Company overview and legal placement Amazon EU SARL (UK Branch) is not a standalone parent company but a local branch of the Luxembourg-based Amazon EU S.à r.l., established to operate and provide services within the UK jurisdiction. The branch structure is used by multinational groups, including Amazon, to register a presence in a national market while remaining part of a continental or global corporate entity. As such, the UK Branch is integrated into Amazon’s commercial network that supplies goods and services to consumers, supports third-party sellers, administers invoicing and payments where applicable, and coordinates regional customer service and operational activities while complying with UK statutory and regulatory requirements. Core business activities The principal activities associated with Amazon EU SARL (UK Branch) align with Amazon’s core European commerce operations. These activities typically include (but are not limited to): - Retail and marketplace operations: offering goods directly to consumers via Amazon’s UK retail storefront and enabling third-party merchants to list and sell products through Amazon’s marketplace platform. The branch supports the commercial processes and local interactions necessary to operate those marketplaces within the UK legal and tax framework. - Seller services and onboarding: providing commercial and technical services for third-party sellers, including registration, account management tools, seller support, listing services, and programmes such as Fulfilment by Amazon (FBA), which coordinates storage, packing and shipping where sellers elect to use Amazon’s logistics infrastructure. - Customer service and returns handling: operating customer-facing functions such as local consumer support, returns processing and dispute handling to meet UK consumer protection obligations and service-level expectations. - Payments, invoicing and tax administration: managing invoicing and related finance functions for goods and services supplied under Amazon EU S.à r.l.’s commercial arrangements in the UK, consistent with applicable VAT and corporate reporting requirements. - Marketing and digital services: enabling promotional activities, advertising services for sellers (Amazon Ads), and localised merchandising and marketing campaigns aimed at UK customers. Main products and services While the UK Branch itself is a legal and operational presence rather than a product-designing entity, the services and product families it supports in the UK market are those widely associated with Amazon’s consumer-facing offer: a comprehensive online marketplace with millions of SKUs across categories; subscription services such as Amazon Prime (which bundles free delivery, streaming of video and music, and other member benefits); physical devices (including Kindle e-readers, Fire tablets, and Echo smart speakers powered by Alexa) sold and serviced in the UK; and digital content delivery of e-books, music, video and apps. In addition, the branch facilitates seller-facing products and services: merchant account management, FBA logistics, Amazon Advertising solutions, analytics and seller support tooling that enable independent retailers to reach UK shoppers. Relationship to other Amazon entities Amazon operates through a multinational structure comprising multiple regional subsidiaries and branches. Cloud services under Amazon Web Services (AWS), for example, are generally provided by distinct AWS legal entities (such as AWS Europe entities), while Amazon’s European retail and marketplace operations are commonly routed through Amazon EU S.à r.l. and its local branches. The UK Branch therefore functions within this corporate ecosystem: it coordinates with other Amazon companies on logistics, technology, customer service, compliance, and commercial programmes, but specific lines of business—such as AWS infrastructure, employment contracts, or country-specific subsidiaries—may be administered by separate legal entities within the Amazon group depending on the activity and jurisdiction. Regulatory and compliance role Operating as a branch of a Luxembourg company, Amazon EU SARL (UK Branch) is subject to UK corporate and tax regulations for the activities it conducts within the UK. That can include registration and reporting obligations with UK authorities, consumer protection compliance for sales to UK consumers, and participation in UK-specific schemes such as VAT collection and reporting. The branch model enables Amazon to provide localized customer support and fulfill statutory responsibilities while remaining part of Amazon EU S.à r.l.’s broader European corporate structure. Scale and market presence Through its association with Amazon EU S.à r.l., the UK Branch supports one of Amazon’s largest and most mature national markets. Amazon’s UK operations encompass a wide range of services used by millions of customers and hundreds of thousands of sellers, supported by warehousing and delivery networks, technology platforms, and localised customer service. In the UK market Amazon offers consumer retail, subscription services, seller marketplaces, logistics and fulfilment solutions, and advertising and digital content services—each supported by the legal and operational presence that branches such as Amazon EU SARL (UK Branch) provide. Public-facing identity and contact points For consumers and sellers, the public-facing interface of the business is Amazon’s UK website and seller platforms, where shopping, account management and support interactions occur. Additional corporate information about Amazon, its mission and global structure can be found on Amazon’s official websites and published filings for regional entities. Specific legal, tax or account-related queries tied to the UK Branch are typically handled through Amazon’s published corporate, legal or seller support channels appropriate to the issue and country of operation.
