Amazon Web Services EMEA SARL (Irish Branch) is the Ireland-registered branch of Amazon Web Services’ regional European legal entity that operates and delivers cloud infrastructure, platform services, and related professional and support services across the Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) market. As a regional arm of Amazon Web Services (AWS), the entity is responsible for providing access to AWS’s broad portfolio of cloud computing products and services within the EMEA jurisdiction, supporting enterprise customers, public sector organizations, startups, and independent software vendors with cloud-based compute, storage, database, networking, analytics, machine learning, security and developer tools. The Irish Branch designation reflects the company’s operational presence and legal registration to transact business and provide services in Ireland while being part of the broader AWS corporate structure. Company overview and core activities Amazon Web Services EMEA SARL (Irish Branch) functions primarily as a provider of cloud infrastructure and platform services. The branch supports the deployment, management and commercial delivery of AWS cloud offerings to customers in Ireland and the wider EMEA region. Key responsibilities include regional sales and account management, customer support and professional services, compliance with regional regulatory and data protection requirements, and coordination with AWS’s global engineering and operations teams to ensure reliable service delivery. The branch also works with local partners, system integrators and channel resellers to enable migration, modernization and cloud-native development for organizations of all sizes. Products and services AWS’s product portfolio—delivered and supported in the region by the EMEA SARL Irish Branch—spans multiple categories used by cloud customers to build, migrate and operate applications: - Compute: Elastic compute offerings such as Amazon EC2 for virtual servers, container services (Amazon ECS, Amazon EKS) and serverless compute (AWS Lambda) for running applications without managing infrastructure. - Storage and Content Delivery: Scalable object storage (Amazon S3), block storage (Amazon EBS), file storage (Amazon EFS), and content delivery via Amazon CloudFront for caching and accelerated content distribution. - Databases and Data Management: Managed relational databases (Amazon RDS), NoSQL databases (Amazon DynamoDB), in-memory stores (Amazon ElastiCache), data warehousing (Amazon Redshift) and managed migration services to move on-premises databases into AWS. - Networking and Edge Services: Virtual private cloud (Amazon VPC), load balancing, Direct Connect for private network connections, global content delivery and edge compute capabilities. - Analytics and Big Data: Services for ETL, stream processing, data lakes and analytics such as Amazon EMR, AWS Glue, Amazon Kinesis and Amazon Athena. - Machine Learning and AI: Managed machine learning tools and platforms including Amazon SageMaker for model building and deployment, pre-built AI services for vision, language and forecasting, and frameworks for training and inference at scale. - Security, Identity and Compliance: Identity and access management (AWS IAM), key management services (AWS KMS), security monitoring and logging solutions, and tools to help customers meet regional compliance and governance requirements. - Developer and Management Tools: Continuous integration/continuous delivery (CI/CD) tools, monitoring and observability (Amazon CloudWatch, AWS X-Ray), infrastructure-as-code services (AWS CloudFormation, AWS CDK), and a broad ecosystem of SDKs and APIs. - Migration, Professional Services and Support: Consulting, migration accelerators, training, certification and technical account management to help enterprises migrate legacy applications, modernize architectures and optimize cloud spend. Operational role and regional significance Within EMEA, AWS operates multiple geographic Regions and Availability Zones to provide high availability, low-latency access and data residency options for customers. The Irish Branch is part of AWS’s regional support and commercial organization, interfacing with customers in Ireland and neighboring markets and coordinating with AWS’s Dublin cloud infrastructure footprint—one of the earliest and largest AWS regions in Europe. The branch plays a central role in ensuring customers can adopt AWS services in a manner compliant with local regulations (including data protection and privacy frameworks), and in providing localized commercial contracting, billing and support. Customer segments and partner ecosystem AWS serves a diverse set of customers through this regional presence: from startups using cloud-native services to rapidly launch products, to global enterprises modernizing large-scale IT estates, to public sector and research institutions requiring secure, compliant cloud environments. The EMEA SARL Irish Branch collaborates with a wide partner ecosystem—independent software vendors (ISVs), system integrators, managed service providers, and consulting partners—helping them build and certify solutions on AWS and deliver managed services to end customers. Business model and commercial offerings AWS’s revenue model is primarily consumption-based: customers pay for compute, storage, networking and other services on a pay-as-you-go basis, with multiple pricing options such as on-demand, reserved capacity and spot instances to optimize cost. The Irish Branch supports these commercial options for customers in the region, providing local contracting, invoicing and support arrangements. The branch also facilitates enterprise support plans, professional services engagements, training and certification programs to expand customer adoption and technical maturity on the platform. Compliance, security and trust As part of AWS’s global operations, the EMEA SARL Irish Branch participates in rigorous security, compliance and privacy programs. AWS publishes compliance attestations, security whitepapers, and data processing documentation to help customers meet regulatory obligations. The regional presence supports customers’ needs for data residency and sovereignty by coordinating access to AWS Regions and Availability Zones that satisfy local requirements. In summary, Amazon Web Services EMEA SARL (Irish Branch) represents AWS’s regional legal and operational capability to deliver a comprehensive portfolio of cloud infrastructure and platform services across Ireland and the EMEA region. It enables customers and partners to architect, deploy and operate scalable, secure, and cost-effective cloud solutions using a vast catalog of services spanning compute, storage, databases, analytics, machine learning and management tools, backed by regional sales, support and compliance functions.
