Amazon Web Services EMEA SARL (commonly referred to as AWS EMEA SARL) is the European legal entity through which Amazon Web Services (AWS) conducts a broad range of cloud computing, sales, support and regional operational activities across Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA). As the EMEA-registered arm of AWS, this corporate entity supports the delivery, commercial contracting, and regional customer engagement for the full suite of AWS cloud products and services. AWS itself is a division of Amazon.com, Inc., and AWS EMEA SARL functions as the organizational vehicle to serve enterprise, public sector, and developer customers in the EMEA footprint, including providing local commercial presence, customer billing and account management, partner programs, and regional compliance engagement. Core business activities - Cloud infrastructure and platform services: AWS EMEA SARL provides access to AWS’s global cloud infrastructure and platform capabilities on behalf of customers in the EMEA region. These capabilities include on-demand compute, scalable object and block storage, managed database services, networking and content delivery, and edge and hybrid infrastructure offerings. Customers can provision and run virtual servers, container platforms, serverless compute and a broad range of managed services through AWS APIs, management consoles and command-line tools. - Managed and professional services: The entity supports AWS professional services engagements and enables customers to access AWS consulting partners. This includes migration support, architecture guidance, application modernization, and ongoing managed services, either directly through AWS Professional Services or via the AWS Partner Network (APN). - Commercial and support operations: AWS EMEA SARL handles regional commercial activities such as enterprise contracting, local billing, account management, and support-plan provisioning (Basic, Developer, Business, Enterprise). It also facilitates training, certification programs, and customer enablement events tailored to EMEA customers. - Compliance, data residency and regional engagement: Operating through a European legal entity enables AWS to address regional regulatory, compliance and data residency requirements that are relevant to EMEA customers. The entity participates in regional compliance programs, helps manage certifications and third-party attestations (for example ISO, SOC frameworks where applicable), and supports customers with contractual and compliance-related inquiries. Main products and services AWS EMEA SARL facilitates access to the broad AWS product portfolio, including (but not limited to): Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2) for scalable virtual servers; Amazon Simple Storage Service (S3) for durable object storage; managed relational databases such as Amazon RDS and Amazon Aurora; NoSQL databases such as Amazon DynamoDB; serverless compute with AWS Lambda; container services including Amazon Elastic Kubernetes Service (EKS) and Amazon Elastic Container Service (ECS); networking and content delivery through Amazon Virtual Private Cloud (VPC) and Amazon CloudFront; identity and access management with AWS Identity and Access Management (IAM); monitoring, logging and observability via Amazon CloudWatch and AWS CloudTrail; analytics and data warehousing with services such as Amazon Redshift; machine learning and AI services such as Amazon SageMaker and pre-built AI services; Internet of Things (IoT) platform services; developer and DevOps tooling; and a marketplace for third-party software. Hybrid and edge offerings, including AWS Outposts, Local Zones and AWS Wavelength, enable customers to extend AWS infrastructure and services into customer data centers and edge locations where low-latency or data residency is required. AWS EMEA SARL supports customer adoption of these hybrid models, coordinating regional deployments and service delivery where applicable. Customer segments and go-to-market AWS EMEA SARL serves a broad set of customer segments, from startups and scale-ups to large multinational enterprises and public-sector organizations. The entity works with channel and systems integrator partners through the AWS Partner Network to provide certified technology and consulting partnerships across cloud migration, security, data analytics, and industry-specific solutions. AWS’s commercial offerings are typically provided on a pay-as-you-go basis, with additional committed-use and enterprise discount arrangements available to meet large-customer procurement and budgeting needs. Security, compliance and governance A central aspect of AWS’s offering is a shared-responsibility security model, whereby AWS manages the security of the cloud (infrastructure, physical facilities, hypervisors and core services) and customers manage security in the cloud (customer data, configuration, identity and access). AWS provides a wide range of security services and compliance attestations to assist organizations in meeting regulatory obligations. Through AWS EMEA SARL, customers in EMEA can engage with local compliance teams and obtain documentation and contractual terms designed to address regional legal and regulatory frameworks, including data protection considerations. Ecosystem and enablement AWS EMEA SARL also supports regional enablement activities including training and certification, events (such as AWS Summits and re:Invent-related local events), and developer outreach. The entity helps coordinate AWS’s partner ecosystem in EMEA, which includes independent software vendors (ISVs), managed service providers, consulting firms and system integrators that build, certify and deliver solutions on the AWS platform. Through training, certification, and partner programs, the organization fosters skills development and technical competency among customers and partners in the region. Summary In summary, Amazon Web Services EMEA SARL operates as the AWS legal and commercial presence for the Europe, Middle East and Africa region, enabling regional customers to procure, deploy and operate AWS cloud services while addressing local commercial, compliance and support requirements. The entity’s activities encompass providing access to the complete AWS services portfolio—compute, storage, databases, networking, security, analytics, AI/ML, developer tools, and hybrid/edge solutions—supported by professional services, partner ecosystems, and regional customer engagement functions tailored to the needs of diverse EMEA organizations.
