Job Description

Progressive Leasing is a leading provider of in-store and e-commerce lease-to-own solutions. With more than 20 years in FinTech, we’ve grown from start-up to industry leader by innovating, simplifying, and valuing people. We are a subsidiary of PROG Holdings (NYSE: PRG), a FinTech holding company with three business segments: Progressive Leasing, Purchasing Power (a leading employee purchase program for consumer products and services using payroll deduction), and Four, a Buy Now Pay Later (BNPL) platform.

We are currently hiring an AI & Automation Builder — People to help modernize how work gets done across our People function and support PROG’s broader AI‑enabled transformation.

This role is a work‑from‑home position and can be performed remotely anywhere in the continental US.

Employee Value Proposition (EVP):
PROG is dedicated to providing people with opportunity — opportunity for inclusive collaboration, opportunity for innovation, and opportunity for development.

WE ARE:  The People team at PROG is operating at the center of an AI‑enabled shift in how the company works. Our focus is on replacing manual, slow, and repetitive HR work with intelligent, automated systems that actually run in the real world.

We don’t design in decks — we build. The People team partners closely with the AI Center of Excellence (COE) to bring automation, agentic workflows, and modern tooling directly into day‑to‑day HR operations.

YOU ARE: A hands‑on builder who knows how to turn defined workflows into working automations.

You may come from a technical background and gravitated toward HR — or from People Ops and taught yourself to build. Either path works. What matters is that you can take a workflow spec, move fast, and deliver something that runs.

You’re comfortable using AI tools as part of how you build, not just how you write. You like shipping MVPs, iterating with feedback, and seeing your work have visible impact for real users.

YOUR DAY‑TO‑DAY:

  • Build AI‑powered automations for core People workflows (recruiting, onboarding, offboarding, employee lifecycle, compliance)
  • Translate defined workflow specs or process maps into built, tested, and deployed automations
  • Build and deploy skills or agentic workflows in partnership with the AI COE, including work tied to PROG’s active PIPER+ program
  • Use AI tools (Claude, Microsoft Copilot, GitHub Copilot, or similar) as core building tools — for workflow logic, automation, and agent design
  • Integrate automations with Workday, Jira, Microsoft 365, and other tools in the PROG stack (API and MCP support provided)
  • Ship quickly and iterate: deliver functional MVPs, gather feedback, and improve over time
  • Maintain and enhance automations as People needs evolve
  • Document what you build so others can understand, maintain, and extend it
  • Partner closely with TA, People Ops, Total Rewards, and HR Technology leaders

YOU’LL BRING:

  • Demonstrated ability to build and ship automations — not just identify opportunities
  • Hands‑on experience using AI tools (Claude, Copilot, ChatGPT, or similar) to automate real workflows
  • Comfort with APIs, webhooks, and basic data formats (JSON)
  • Familiarity with no‑code / low‑code tools; light scripting (Python, JavaScript, Apps Script) is a plus
  • Working knowledge of how HR / People functions operate and where automation adds value
  • Experience with enterprise HR systems (Workday strongly preferred)
  • Ability to clearly explain what you built to non‑technical stakeholders
  • Self‑directed, iterative working style — you build, test, and refine without waiting for perfection
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
  • AI‑enabled tools are already part of how work gets done at PROG, and their use will continue to expand. We value people who are curious, adaptable, and open to learning as workflows evolve.

WE OFFER:

  • Competitive Compensation
  • Full Health Benefits; Medical/Dental/Vision/Life Insurance + Paid Parental Leave
  • Company‑Matched 401(k)
  • Paid Time Off + Paid Holidays + Paid Volunteer Hours
  • Employee Resource Groups (Black Inclusion Group, Women in Leadership, PRIDE, Adelante)
  • Employee Stock Purchase Program
  • Tuition Reimbursement
  • Charitable Gift Matching
  • Job‑required equipment and services

Company Address: N/A

Progressive Leasing is a technology-enabled lease-to-own provider that offers point-of-sale financing solutions for retailers and flexible payment options for consumers. The company partners with brick-and-mortar and online merchants to make consumer goods accessible through lease-purchase arrangements that do not require traditional credit cards or conventional credit approvals. Progressive Leasing’s primary business activity is to underwrite and administer lease-to-own contracts, provide merchant integration tools and servicing, and manage customer onboarding, payment collection and end-of-term options for leased merchandise. At the core of Progressive Leasing’s offering is a merchant-facing platform and consumer application workflow that enables retailers to present a lease-to-own alternative at checkout. For retailers, the service is positioned as a sales-enabling product: it allows merchants to accept customers who either lack traditional credit profiles or prefer an alternative payment structure, potentially increasing approval rates and overall basket sizes. Progressive Leasing provides a suite of integration options, including point-of-sale (POS) integrations for in-store transactions and digital/e-commerce integration for online checkouts. Merchants typically use Progressive Leasing to offer transparent, fixed periodic payments and an initial payment at the time of checkout, with Progressive Leasing then responsible for underwriting, servicing and collections during the lease term. For consumers, Progressive Leasing’s products are designed to be accessible and simple to enroll in. The consumer experience commonly includes a short application at the point of sale or online that requests basic identifying and income-related information; the company’s underwriting process evaluates eligibility using proprietary criteria tailored to lease-to-own arrangements rather than relying solely on traditional credit bureau scores. Approved customers enter into a lease agreement with clearly stated payment terms, and they make recurring payments over the life of the lease. At the end of the lease term, customers generally have options as defined in their contract, which can include paying a purchase option or otherwise concluding the lease per the agreement. Progressive Leasing emphasizes a paperless process in many implementations, supporting electronic contracts, digital signatures and online account management tools for customers to view payment schedules and make payments. Progressive Leasing’s technology and operations span several functional areas: merchant integration and tools (including training, point-of-sale integration and online checkout widgets); customer acquisition and underwriting (including a digital application workflow and automated eligibility decisions); account servicing and payment processing (managing recurring billing, customer service and collections); and reporting and analytics for retail partners (transaction reporting, merchant portals and reconciliation services). The company’s platform is built to integrate with common retail POS systems and e-commerce platforms, enabling a merchant to present lease-to-own terms in the same flow as other payment methods. Progressive Leasing also provides merchant support, compliance guidance and marketing materials to help retailers communicate the product and convert shoppers into customers. Regulatory compliance, consumer disclosures and state licensing are important aspects of Progressive Leasing’s business model. Lease-to-own products are subject to a mix of state-specific regulations and consumer protection requirements in the United States, and Progressive Leasing maintains compliance processes and disclosure practices intended to meet applicable legal and regulatory standards. The company’s public materials typically highlight commitments to clear disclosure of terms, accessible customer service and processes designed to treat customers fairly throughout the lease term. Progressive Leasing serves a wide range of retail categories where consumers commonly use lease-to-own arrangements, including furniture, appliances, consumer electronics, home goods, jewelry and specialty retail. By offering a non-credit-card payment option, Progressive Leasing positions itself as an alternative for consumers with limited credit histories as well as those who prefer predictable, fixed payments. The service is used by both national retail chains and smaller independent merchants, and its commercial value proposition centers on increasing conversion rates, average order value and customer reach by adding a payment option that some customers find more attainable than traditional credit. Technology and data play central roles in Progressive Leasing’s operations: the company leverages automation in initial eligibility decisions, digital workflows for contracting and servicing, and reporting tools for merchant partners. Security and privacy of customer data are components of the platform’s operational controls, and Progressive Leasing’s public-facing statements emphasize secure handling of personally identifiable information in accordance with applicable laws and industry practices. Overall, Progressive Leasing is positioned as a fintech-enabled consumer leasing company that integrates with retail sales environments to provide lease-to-own financing. Its main services include lease underwriting and administration, merchant integration and support, consumer-facing application and account management, and payment processing and collections. The company’s model is aimed at expanding purchasing power for consumers without relying solely on traditional credit while providing retailers with an additional payment option intended to increase sales and broaden the addressable customer base.
