THE ROLE

We’re looking for a strong systems-oriented engineer with hands-on LLM experience to join our AI Innovation team. In this role, you’ll build AI systems and internal products that improve how teams work across different departments and areas in the company. The common denominator is ownership: you should be comfortable leading projects end-to-end, including clarifying needs with stakeholders, making decisions under ambiguity, and pushing through blockers when they arise.

This role is a strong fit for someone who enjoys both sides of applied AI work: full-stack engineering and practical use of LLM capabilities.

Hiring manager: Ori Nahum, AI Innovation Team Lead (https://www.linkedin.com/in/ori-nahum-b4a254aa/)

What you’ll be working on

Examples of projects you may work on:

  • AI agents for code generation workflows (especially in mobile applications)
  • A mobile app navigation agent
  • Backend services that orchestrate LLM workflows, tool calling, and integrations with internal systems
  • AI chatbot connected to internal data sources and business systems
  • And other new AI-driven solutions that support different departments across the company

You’ll be expected to move between experimentation and implementation: validating ideas quickly, turning the promising ones into reliable tools, and leading projects far enough to make them useful in practice — not just technically possible.

Requirements

WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

Must-have

  • 5+ years experience in software development (preferably in Python, TypeScript, or mobile development).
  • Ability to lead projects from idea to production, including aligning with stakeholders, driving decisions, and proactively removing blockers when needed
  • Hands-on experience building LLM-based products, tools, or agents beyond toy prototypes
  • Good understanding of prompt design, tool calling, orchestration, and how to make LLM systems actually useful
  • Strong English communication skills

Big advantage

  • Experience building internal developer tools or productivity systems
  • Background in mobile development, especially native Android or iOS
  • Design and implement evaluation frameworks to assess AI performance, accuracy, and reliability.
  • Solid understanding of ML theory and how LLMs work under the hood, including key concepts, limitations, and trade-offs beyond the API layer
  • Familiarity with cloud infrastructure / DevOps / CI-CD
  • Good judgment around where AI adds value and where it doesn’t

Who will do well here

You’ll likely do well in this role if you:

  • Like building practical systems, not just demos
  • Take initiative without waiting for perfect specs
  • Enjoy exploring new tools, but know how to separate hype from what’s actually useful
  • Want the freedom to research, experiment, and then ship
  • Enjoy working across different problem spaces and use cases, rather than staying in one narrow lane

INTERESTED?

Our recruitment process consists of the following steps:

  • HR interview with the recruitment manager: 45 min
  • Technical interview with the AI Engineer Tech Lead & Team Lead: 1 hour
  • Take-home challenge: ~ 4 hours of work
  • Final Interview - take-home challenge presentation with CTO and AI Engineer Team Lead and Tech Lead: 1 hour

Get in touch at hr@rounds.com. We look forward to hearing from you!

Company Information

Company Name: Rounds

Company Website: https://www.rounds.com

Company Address: N/A

Rounds is a technology company that operates a video-first social platform designed to enable real-time, synchronous social interactions between individuals and small groups. The company’s core offering centers on an integrated video-chat experience that combines live face-to-face video with shared, interactive content and light social gaming to create more engaging remote social encounters than a standalone video call. Rounds’ product is built to support casual social use cases—friends catching up, small-group hangouts, and co-viewing activities—by layering interactive elements such as mini-games, shared media playback, visual filters, stickers and avatar-style effects on top of live video sessions. Core business activities for Rounds include designing and delivering consumer-facing communication software, operating and maintaining the real-time infrastructure required for low-latency group video sessions, and curating or integrating third-party interactive content that can be used during video conversations. The company’s platform is typically accessible through both web browsers and mobile apps, allowing users to start or join video conversations without requiring complex setup. A significant part of the product focus is on combining synchronous video with jointly consumable digital activities (for example, playing casual games together or watching the same short-form video), so that participants have something shared to do while they communicate. Main products and services associated with Rounds are organized around the video-chat application itself and the interactive experiences that run inside sessions. The primary consumer product is a multi-party video-chat application that adds contextual activities to conversations: lightweight multiplayer games, media-sharing capabilities, and in-call visual enhancements intended to make conversations more playful and socially engaging. The platform emphasizes discovery of shared activities and invites for spontaneous social interaction, positioning itself as more than a utility for meetings and more as a space for social entertainment and companionship. In addition to the consumer-facing app, Rounds has historically focused on enabling third-party content experiences inside video sessions. This includes partnerships and integrations with content creators and developers who build small interactive applications that run alongside live video, giving users options to customize and extend their sessions. By facilitating integration of branded or developer-built mini-applications, the platform supports a richer, more varied set of in-call activities than a plain video stream. Rounds’ technical scope covers the realtime media stack necessary for reliable multi-party video and audio, session management and presence, user authentication and friend-network mechanics, and content orchestration so participants can launch and synchronize games or media playback. To support a consumer audience, the company invests in ease-of-use, cross-platform compatibility, and features that reduce friction for inviting friends and joining sessions. The user experience is oriented toward brief, frequent social interactions rather than long-form conferencing; accordingly, many features are built to be lightweight, instantly accessible, and oriented toward entertainment. Monetization approaches commonly used by companies in this space—and historically associated with video-social platforms like Rounds—include in-app purchases and virtual goods (cosmetic items, avatar accessories, sticker packs), optional premium features, and advertising or branded content integrations. Rounds’ interactive, media-rich environment creates natural opportunities for content partnerships and sponsored in-call experiences, where brands can present co-viewing content or mini-games to engaged groups. From a user and community perspective, Rounds emphasizes casual social connection, enabling friends to create shared experiences and find spontaneous ways to interact. The product design typically includes tools to manage privacy and session controls, such as the ability to invite or remove participants and to control shared content. For parents and younger users, platforms of this type often provide moderation and reporting tools to help maintain a safer environment, and Rounds has previously highlighted features aimed at making group video socializing welcoming and appropriate for its target audiences. On the partner and developer side, Rounds’ ecosystem is structured to allow content creators and third parties to bring interactive experiences into video sessions. This system enables a marketplace-like dynamic in which users can select from a roster of mini-applications and activities that run inside a session, broadening how customers use the product beyond one-on-one conversations. These integrations help transform the video call into a shared activity space that blends communication and light entertainment. Overall, Rounds presents itself as a specialist in combining synchronous video communication with curated interactive content to create a social, entertainment-oriented communication platform. Its focus is on making video conversations more playful and activity-led so that participants have a shared context and engaging activities while connecting face-to-face online. The company’s product approach targets consumers looking for social experiences that feel more dynamic than conventional video calls, and it provides the technical and product building blocks for partners and creators to extend the core conversational experience.
